![]() Where shooting is at the best range in the Tri-State area ! Summer Arrives with a BANG! It's almost summertime and that means the June Family Frolic and Rendezvous! We had a grand time this year with warm weather and just a hint of rain. We had almost 50 registered participants for various shooting events or the hawk and knife throw. Toss in a handful of vistors and another of just plain happy campers, and you've got a pretty active and fun-filled Family Frolic. The first time Frolic pistol woodwalk on Friday was a super success with 11 shooters and pistols that ranged from a wee 4-inches long to a near 2-foot whopper (both of which shot the same score coincidentally). Our Saturday woodswalk boasted 33 shooters along with 13 hawk and knife throwers! We even scooted in an impromptu Youth Hawk and Knife Throw much to the delight of kids and adults alike. The Saturday night feast was a belly buster with dishes ranging from goose and venison to cherry cobbler and blueberry pie - all of which was camp cooked. The Meat and Greet Cafe which was open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday also proved to be a hit with chicken legs and critter-on-a-stick. But most of all we had fun, fun and more fun. Once we get in all the photos, we'll post them for others to catch a glimpse of the doings. Hopefully that will help convice all y'all (that's plural for everyone) to make plans to join us at our next festivity - which will be on the second weekend of February. But don't forget - before that - we host the 'Bob Lee' Virginia State Muzzleloading Championship before then, coming up in October. Stay tuned for more information on both of those events. And as always visitors and freinds can join us at our monthly shoots, on the third Saturday of every month. It's a good time to learn about muzzleloading and a great time to burn some powder with a smoke pole or two. On a side note, next year’s SEPR will not be too far away – just over the border in Yadkinville, NC, Nov 6-14, 2010. Maybe we can get a number of members to attend and corner off a section of the camp to set up a James River club settlement. The ROGUES gallery continues to grow, where is your picture? If you don't want your picture posted here, don't stand in front of a camera! |
