Where shooting is at the best range in the Tri-State area!

Welcome to 2010!

The James River Black Powder Club hopes that everyone had a safe and happy Holiday Season. We have a super year planned for 2010 with our monthly shoots (3 rd Sat of every month), our two Frolics events (2 nd weekend in February and 2 nd weekend in June), the ‘Bob Lee’ State Championship (2 nd weekend in October), and a special Labor Day event where the entire camp will be in period attire – both garb and tents. We look forward to a year of good shooting with good friends.

Our first frolic, the Frozen Frolic is coming up soon – Feb 12-14. We have the 3-Shooter Team Woodswalk on Friday, the Individual Woodswalk and Hawk/Knife Throw on Saturday, with the Scribe’s Match and Pole Shoot on Sunday. For more information on the number of shots and such, check out the Frozen Frolic Flyer. Special events for youngsters will also be available on Saturday depending on the number of kids that show up. We’ve also got a couple of new bits – The Tall Tale Contest on Friday and the Great Dessert Challenge on Saturday as part of the Frolic Feast.

For those that might be new to rendezvousing or interesting in blackpowder muzzleloading or living history, a James River Frolic is a great place to talk to old timers about how to begin or get started. For those that already have their garb or are looking for a smoke pole shooting challenge, then a Frolic Woodswalk is just what you are looking for. All in all, the Frozen Frolic 2010 promises to be great fun for visitors and participants. We look forward to seeing friends old and new join us in camp for a rousing good time. See you there and the coffee pot is always on.

A trifold hand out has been put together by Mike Harris, which does a nice jobshowing off our club. If anyone is interested please contact Mike for a copy. It's a great visual aid to show prospective recruits what the club is all about!!!!

With these improvements we now have the BEST RANGE in the state and beyond and continuing to get better. Did you notice those big posts at the RV parking area? There are plans in the works to improve our range even more!! For those who haven't been out for awhile come see the new range and renew old aquaintances - we miss you guys!

If you don't want your picture posted here, don't stand in front of a camera!
